GLOUCESTER, Va. — A man is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Gloucester County.
It happened just after 12:15 on Sunday afternoon when Virginia State Police responded to a crash on George Washington Memorial Highway at the intersection of Woods Cross Road.
Troopers said that based on a preliminary investigation, a driver of a Nissan sedan failed to yield at the intersection and hit a motorcycle being ridden by two people. The motorcycle then hit a Chevrolet sedan that had stopped at a Stop sign.
The motorcycle driver and his passenger were both thrown from the motorcycle. They were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver, 68-year-old Jack John Russo Jr. of Norfolk, later died at Riverside Regional Hospital.
No other injuries were reported. VSP said the driver of the Nissan, George Asbell of Gloucester, was charged with reckless driving.
The crash remains under investigation.
