Gloucester sheriff's investigators are learning more details about a Pickett Lane shooting from last month

A 43-year-old man from Heathsville has been charged in the shooting.

GLOUCESTER, Va. — The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Nov. 20.

The shooting was reported at 11:15 a.m. that day, according to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office. It happened in the 3700 block of Pickett Lane.

According to investigators, a man arrived at a home and confronted an individual on the scene. He was known to at least one resident of the home.

During an altercation, the suspect assaulted the victim before brandishing a firearm, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect allegedly opened fire on a victim, who was not struck and was able to flee the scene.

On Nov. 25, sheriff’s office investigators learned the suspect was in Northumberland County and executed a search warrant, during which they recovered a firearm.

Markice Devell Noel, 43, of Walnut Lane in Heathsville, was placed under arrest on charges of attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting at a dwelling and brandishing a firearm.
