Man dies after being pinned during crash in Gloucester County, police say

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. — A person has died after a crash on the Coleman Memorial Bridge Saturday morning, police say.

According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), a person has died after a two-vehicle crash on Route 17 Southbound on the Coleman Memorial Bridge. Officials say the crash happened in Gloucester County's jurisdiction. 

VSP says around 8:20 a.m. a Kia Forter struck a disabled pickup trailer partially in the right lane. The passenger of the disabled pickup was in between the trailer and the GMC Sierra when the crash happened and was pinned by the impact of the collision. The passenger, 44-year-old Jose Salinas Estrada of Hayes, Virginia, died at the scene.

VSP says the driver of the Kia Forte was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by state police. VSP said charges are pending.
