A woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Gloucester County

A woman was ejected from her vehicle after it overturned on Route 17 Saturday.

GLOUCESTER, Va. — Virginia State Police responded to Route 17 around 5:15 p.m. finding a 1997 Acura CL sedan on its roof. The vehicle was traveling northbound when it veered off the road  to the left and into the median. The Acura began to overturn as it entered the southbound lanes.

 The Acura was struck by a 2021 Ford EcoSport which caused it to turn on its roof.

The Acura’s driver, Amber L. Velez, 39, died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle. A 7-year-old male passenger is being treated at Norfolk’s CHKD with non-life threatening injuries. 

This crash remains under investigation.
