GLOUCESTER, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal Wednesday morning crash in Gloucester County.
Around 8:52 a.m., police received a call about a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at Burkes Pond Road (Route 602), north of John Clayton Memorial Highway (Route 14)
A preliminary investigation revealed that 62-year-old Richard Gregory Gibson, Jr. was traveling north on Burkes Pond Road on a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he ran off the roadway into a ditch.
Gibson was taken to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital with serious injuries, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to VSP, authorities have not determined whether or not speed or alcohol were factors in this crash.
