Gloucester school bus driver charged after crash sends 3 kids to hospital

According to VSP, 28 kids were on the school bus when the driver attempted to turn left onto Short Lane from a church parking lot.

GLOUCESTER, Va. — A school bus full of children crashed with another car in Gloucester County Monday afternoon, Virginia State Police (VSP) confirmed. 

According to VSP, 28 kids were on the school bus when the driver attempted to turn left onto Short Lane from the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This was around 12:51 p.m.

The bus pulled into the path of and collided with another car driven by a 16-year-old girl. She was not injured. 

Three children were brought to the hospital, and another eight were evaluated. All of the kids on the bus were between ages 11 and 14, VSP said. 

The bus driver, 55-year-old Ronnal Williams, was charged with failure to yield. VSP also said that neither alcohol nor speed contributed to the crash.
