NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) — Love all that is Thanksgiving but can't be bothered to prepare a full spread? How about something more convenient, something you can get while you gas up the car.
Wawa calls it their Turkey Gobbler.
A hoagie, full of turkey, stuffing and fresh cranberry sauce, that has gained cult following since it was first cooked up 10 years ago.
“It’s been a customer favorite since customers ask for it all summer long, they wait for it and when it comes around in the fall, they get so, so excited,” said Wawa spokesperson Alyson Mucha.
The Gobbler, and its bowl counterpart, are hot ticket items, with thousands sold every week in Hampton Roads.
Mucha says some would be surprised to hear that the busiest days for orders are on holidays.
"We’ve actually heard stories of people who come in, they come in with their whole family, they set up a table outside, they order turkey bowls, and they have a Thanksgiving feast outside a Wawa,” said Mucha.
