CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Shipyard career opportunities abound, and Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is looking for people to take advantage of those opportunities.
Representatives from departments throughout the shipyard will be at a career fair at the Chesapeake Conference Center on Saturday, June 2.
The conference center is located at 700 Conference Center Drive. The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fair will emphasize on numerous shipyard career opportunities, including ship-fitters, welders, electricians (shipboard), shipwrights/fabric workers, temporary service mechanics (all types), sheet metal mechanics, inside machinists, outside machinists, pipefitters (shipboard), and more.
Because Congress granted temporary Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for some occupations at NNSY, the shipyard has the ability to shorten the hiring process for certain positions.
Anyone interested in applying should bring several copies of their resumes to the career fair and be prepared to be interviewed.
