A candlelight vigil is being planned for an 18 year old Tyquan Lewis, who was shot and killed after a party late Saturday night.
Family and friends plan to gather on Walnut Street at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to remember the Lakeland High senior.
'He was just too good of a person; he was loved by everybody,' said girlfriend, Takia Britt.
Suffolk school officials say crisis counselors will be at Lakeland High on Tuesday to talk to any summer school students who are mourning.
Monday afternoon was supposed to be Lewis' first day of football practice. His coach, Glenwood Ferebee said the team said a prayer before practice in memory of Lewis.
Suffolk Police say that Lewis was shot in the neck and killed by 19 year old Dontaz Wilkerson after the two argued at a party late Saturday night.
Wilkerson is being held for first degree murder at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail. 13News contacted him for comment but he declined.
Lewis's family tells 13News, they believe that he was hunted down by Wilkerson.
'He hunted down my nephew to kill him,' said, Shaendalyn Barnes, Lewis' aunt. She added, 'they followed him to a certain point and they blocked him off.'
Detectives say the fight stemmed from a girl they both knew.
Wilkerson is being charged with one count of first degree murder and 3 counts of attempted murder because he fired three other shots. Those shots did not hit anyone.
