NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Animal Control officials captured a snake that was found slinking around the streets Tuesday morning.
Donald McDowell said he was out walking his dog around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when he saw the python laying across the sidewalk. He called animal control.
"I was afraid of it. I wasn't going to touch. Animal control, she reached right down to pick it up like nothing," said McDowell.
McDowell said he trapped the snake under a plastic box until animal control arrived.
Police spokesperson Daniel Hudson and Corporate Communications Director Lori Crouch tell us that the snake is currently housed at the Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center currently undergoing proper care.
We're told the snake is a ball python and is four feet long and around one-year-old.
