ONANCOCK, Va. — One person was forced out of their home after a fire engulfed their home in Accomack County on Friday night, according to Onancock Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters from Onancock and surrounding towns responded to the blaze on Coastal Boulevard just off Lankford Highway shortly before 10 p.m. Friday. Flames had heavily engulfed the home when crews arrived, with officials saying the "fire [was] venting from every door and window."
Nearly an hour after the initial response, the fire was put out.
The only resident had escaped the blaze before firefighters arrived. Neither the resident nor any crew members were injured.
The Red Cross also responded to help the resident find a place to stay.
There's no word on what started the fire.
