VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Hampton Roads community came out Saturday to support and empower those affected by cancer.
The 6th annual Triple B Live Strong fundraiser event took place in Virginia Beach.
The fundraiser was created after three teachers at Norfolk Academy were diagnosed with various forms of cancer in 2017. They were able to beat their diagnosis.
During Saturday's event, the three friends were able to reconnect and support others who are impacted by the disease.
"They have a chance to not only raise money to impact their local community for cancer survivorship programs but they also have an opportunity to really bond meet one another, people going through similar battles, similar challenges," explained Suzanne Stone, the CEO and president of the Livestrong Foundation.
"We've already raised over $25,000 which is more than I think any other year but we're still taking donations," said Brooke Fox, a cancer survivor.
You can still donate to the organization by logging onto the Live Strong website and donating to the Triple B group.
