CHESAPEAKE, Va. — April is National Minority Health Month. The observance raises awareness about the disparities faced by racial and ethnic minorities across the country. One local organization is taking action to help put an end to these inequalities.
This year Celebrate Healthcare is connecting the Hampton Roads community to resources that will help prioritize their health. Two free health clinics will be held in Chesapeake and Hampton early this month.
Thursday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrate Healthcare is partnering with Sentara at the Jasaron Learning Institute in Chesapeake. You can register for this free event here.
Attendees can find 3D mammogram services, vaccines, and enroll or renew in a health insurance or Medicaid plan.
$15 gift cards will be available on a first-come-first-served basis for those who complete a mammogram screening, enroll in insurance, or get a vaccine.
Another clinic will be held on Friday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton. You can RSVP for this free event here.
This clinic will include healthcare screenings, vaccines and health insurance enrollment assistance. This event will also include a bonus cardio chair exercise workout at 11:30 a.m.
Event organizers remind those attending to bring a photo ID and an insurance card if they have it. Health insurance enrollment assistance will be available for the uninsured and financial assistance will be available to those who qualify.
