WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Peninsula Health District said two residents have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
That brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 17 in Virginia, including two others in Virginia Beach.
Health officials say it is believed the two latest patients got coronavirus while traveling internationally. James City County reports the two patients live in the greater Williamsburg area.
With the growing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency on Thursday. The governor's emergency declaration is an administrative tool that allows for additional flexibility in dealing with the outbreak.
