VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Congresswoman Elaine Luria visited Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital Monday morning to talk about local healthcare preparedness and needs.
Luria said it was important not to overwhelm healthcare workers in coronavirus and flu season, and emphasized social distancing as a good way to slow the spread of COVID-19.
"This is a public health emergency like none of us have seen in our lifetime," said Luria.
"It's gonna take some personal sacrifice and hardship on everyone's part to prevent the increase of spread to make sure our community is safe from this."
Luria said some coronavirus test kits came in to local hospitals over the weekend, and with more kits scheduled to arrive this week, she believes Hampton Roads has enough tests to meet demand.
