NORFOLK, Va. — A man who was part of the leadership of the violent Nine Trey Gangsters Bloods gang has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms, plus an additional 40 years in prison.

41-year-old Antonio Simmons was convicted for his role in a month-long crime spree across Hampton Roads in late 2015. A federal jury found Simmons and two other gang members guilty of racketeering conspiracy, multiple murders, multiple attempted murders, and various drug and gun crimes.

Authorities say that from roughly Thanksgiving through Christmas of 2015, the gang members murdered two men and three women, most of whom had no affiliation with the gang.

Four other people were also shot during separate shootings that crossed nearly every city in the southside Hampton Roads.
