NORFOLK -- Former sailor Robert Hoffman, accused of attempted espionage, entered a plea of not guilty at an arraignment Wednesday.
The 39-year-old has been behind bars without bond since a court appearance in early December, when a judge said he is a danger to the community.
Hoffman is accused of trying to hand over classified information to someone he thought was a representative of the Russian Federation.
That person was actually an undercover FBI agent.
The judge set a trial date of June 17, 2013.
If convicted, Hoffman faces up to two life sentences behind bars.
