WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Officials at the College of William & Mary say they've set a new fundraising record.
The schools says it raised more than $143 million in fiscal year 2016, which is the most it has ever raised in a single year.
William & Mary's previous record was nearly $106 million, which was raised in fiscal year 2015.
The university says it has raised nearly $578 million since July 2011. The school aims to bring in $1 billion by 2020.
William & Mary says that nearly 30 percent of alumni, or more than 18,000 people, donated to the school during the most recent fiscal year.
