Photographer escorted from Chesapeake elementary school after inappropriate comments

Principal Bridget Outlaw commended students for reporting the incident quickly.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A hired photographer was escorted from the E.W. Chittum Elementary School campus recently after reportedly making inappropriate comments to students.

In a message sent to the school community Wednesday morning, principal Bridget Outlaw said parents of students had reported the incident to administrators, who then had the individual removed from school property.

Outlaw said the photography company was also notified and "swiftly addressed the situation and started an investigation."

"The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities," Outlaw wrote. "We take any reports of inappropriate behavior very seriously."

Parents of students who reported their concerns were notified that the photographer had been removed, Outlaw added.

"We are thankful that our message of 'see something, say something' was effectively used in this situation," she wrote.

Outlaw added any concerns in general can be submitted through the school's Let’s Talk platform or Report Line, or addressed directly with school administration.
