A Houston high school student who got accepted into 20 colleges – including four Ivy League schools – is back in the headlines. But not for the reasons you might expect.

Local Fox anchors in Washington, D.C. are under fire for criticizing Michael Brown and calling him “obnoxious.”

The Lamar High School student has a 4.68 GPA and he’s been offered full-ride scholarships at Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and many others.

Holly Morris and Sarah Fraser implied that Brown’s success took away scholarship opportunities from other students.

"It's a little ridiculous that this kid applied to 20 (colleges), taking away a spot and basically wait-listing another kid," Fraser said.

"It's a little obnoxious because you can only go to one,” Morris said. “You can only take one full ride, and you are taking a spot from someone else who worked really hard."

After video of the Fox 5 segment went viral, Fraser apologized to Brown and said he accepted.

Morris isn't backing down.

After our sister station KHOU first shared Brown’s story last week, it was picked up by news outlets all over the world.

The cell phone video showing his priceless reaction to news he’d been accepted at Stanford also went viral.

Now, the Third Ward teen is focusing on the biggest decision of his young life: which college to attend.
