NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A 51-year-old woman was killed in an overnight hit-and-run following an earlier crash in Newport News, authorities confirmed.
An initial investigation reveals the victim, who has not been publicly identified, was driving on Warwick Boulevard when she hit a curb, leading her to crash at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Newport News police say she began walking toward the Raceway Gas Station nearby when another vehicle struck her.
That driver fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
The 51-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital where she eventually succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. No details on the suspect or the involved vehicle have been released at this time.
