SUFFOLK, Va. — A man is behind bars after authorities say he shot and killed a woman in Suffolk Tuesday morning.
Suffolk police said that around 8 a.m., they received a call reporting a person injured in a shooting in the 2000 block of Mill Lake Road.
When police got to the scene, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as 29-year-old Jackquelyn Stevenson, was pronounced dead there.
In a later release, police announced Antonio Newsome had been arrested in connection to the shooting. The 43-year-old was booked into the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
