NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A 43-year-old woman wanted for a slew of charges has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a Newport News police officer.
Kristi Lynn Cline was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery with a child less than 13-years-old, two counts of object sexual penetration with a child less than 13-years-old, two counts of indecent liberties with a child less than 15-years-old and carnal knowledge of a child 13 to 14-years-old.
Last week, a 22-year-old woman alleged that Newport News Police Officer Robert Jones and her former babysitter, Kristi Cline, sexually assaulted her when she was 12 and 14 from 2008 to 2011.
Through the course of the investigation, we discovered court documents that detailed Cline owned a daycare facility she ran out of her home in Colony Pines. The girl would go there after school. She alleges that Jones would visit from time to time.
Cline's home was reportedly not licensed or registered.
The documents cite that both Jones and Cline allegedly raped and assaulted multiple times as a child.
Jones has been placed on administrative leave without pay and an administrative investigation is underway. He has worked for Newport News Police since 2007.
