SUFFOLK, Va. — A Western Tidewater Regional Jail employee is facing a felony charge stemming from an alleged break-in in Portsmouth on May 19.
Jamaica Perry is charged with breaking and entering into another woman's home while armed, according to court documents.
Court documents state Perry, along with another person, is accused of breaking into the woman's home during the late hours of May 19, 2024.
According to the complaint, Perry and her accomplice broke down the woman's door, yelled expletives and demanded the woman "come out" after she ran into a closet with her kids to hide. The criminal complaint states that Perry and her accomplice knocked the woman's door out of its frame, and it's unable to be secured.
Court documents also say everyone involved knows each other, stating the alleged victim has a child with Perry's ex-boyfriend.
Perry and her accomplice left the home after the alleged victim grabbed a gun and pointed it at Perry and her accomplice for protection, according to court documents.
In the documents, the alleged victim also accuses Perry and her accomplice of calling and texting her over several days, with Perry allegedly threatening to shoot the alleged victim in the face.
Police arrested Perry on May 20. Western Tidewater Regional Jail subsequently placed her on administrative leave.
Perry is expected to have a preliminary hearing on June 25.
