Woman charged after stabbing that left her, man, 2 children hurt

The Virginia Beach Police Department said it arrested Wendy Velasquez, 44, for the stabbing on Bridgeman Lane, near Independence Boulevard and North Witchduck Road.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Police said Friday that they arrested a woman after a stabbing that took place Thursday that left her, a man, and two children hurt.

Officers said Wendy Velasquez, 44, faces two counts of Aggravated Malicious Wounding and one count of Malicious Wounding as a result of the stabbing which they said involved a domestic situation. As of Friday, Velasquez was in the custody of the Virginia Beach Sheriffs' Office.

The incident happened in the 4700 block of Bridgeman Lane, near Independence Boulevard and North Witchduck Road. 

At 9:35 a.m. Thursday, emergency personnel received a report that multiple people had been stabbed in a home. Upon arrival, officers located Velasquez, a 23-year-old man, and two boys (ages 17 and 9) suffering from stab wounds. 

Everyone who was hurt was taken to the hospital. Police expected them all to recover.
