VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — UPDATE: The Virginia Beach Courthouse was evacuated Tuesday morning after reports of a bomb threat, according to the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office.
The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office tweeted shortly before 11:30 a.m. that the court system would remain closed for the remainder of the day to the public.
Deputies entered the building shortly before 10:45 a.m. after getting reports that several threats regarding possible explosives and firearms were called to 911.
The threats ended up being unsubstantiated and the building was safe to reenter by 12:20 p.m.
The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office worked with the Virginia Beach Police Department, Virginia State Police and FBI to clear the building. They didn't find any explosive devices or other safety threats.
The court will reopen on Wednesday. Anyone with questions about the rescheduling of cases should reach out to the presiding court clerk's office.
