VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia State Police need your help finding a driver that injured a trooper in a hit-and-run Wednesday morning

Just after 5 a.m., a state trooper tried to pull over a blue Dodge Charger speeding on I-264 near Laskin Road. The driver was going 125 mph in a 55 mph zone.

When the driver didn’t stop, the trooper chased them down the interstate to the exit at Birdneck Road

After taking the exit, the driver turned onto a dead-end road, and the trooper’s vehicle blocked them in. In an initial attempt to escape, the driver tried to drive around the trooper but failed.

The trooper then exited her car to try and approach the suspect. That's when the driver backed up and drove into the trooper before driving away. The trooper suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

State police are now seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the driver and vehicle. Troopers ran the license plate but were unable to find more specific information about the car.

However, we know that the Dodge Charge is blue, missing the hood exposing the engine, with a headlight out on the passenger side and a loud exhaust. The driver is described as a man with glasses. He’s known to frequent the Oceana Boulevard area.

Anyone with information is urged to call state police at (804) 750-8788 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
