17-year-old facing charges in deadly Norfolk shooting

Police have identified the 18-year-old who was killed.

NORFOLK, Va. — Police have charged a 17-year-old in connection to a deadly overnight shooting on Grantham Road that left an 18-year-old man dead. 

At 3 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a home on Grantham Road for a report of a person shot. Once there, officers found an 18-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. 

He has been identified as Branden M. Davis Jr., 18, of Norfolk. 

Investigators say a 17-year-old boy has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm causing injury, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile in connection to the deadly shooting. 

Police say the 17-year-old was taken into custody at the home.

Detectives have not released any additional details about this shooting. 

The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
