PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Police in Portsmouth said two women were shot Saturday night, although investigators have not said if the two shootings are connected.
Police were first alerted shortly after 10:30 p.m. that an adult woman had walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators said she had "injuries to her lower extremities" and is expected to be OK.
Then a little more than an hour later around 11:48 p.m., emergency dispatch received a 911 call for a report of a woman who had been shot in the 6200 block of Centenary Drive, in the Churchland area of the city.
Officers located the victim, and the woman was taken by medics to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators have not said what may have led to these shootings or if there are any suspects at this time.
