PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Police in Portsmouth were investigating a homicide that happened late Sunday afternoon as they tried to figure out if a shooting victim who walked into a hospital a short time later was involved.
Sgt. Misty Holley said that someone called emergency dispatchers about a gunshot victim in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road at around 5:40 p.m. When police arrived at that location, they found a man who had been shot. He died there.
Then, at around 5:50 p.m., a man walked into Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Holley said investigators had not determined if the two incidents had anything to do with each other.
