PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Portsmouth Police Department shares they located and arrested a robbery suspect within an hour of the crime being reported.
Just before 10 p.m. on April 14, a local bar and grill on Chowan Drive reported a robbery. When they arrived, officers interviewed the victim. In this interview, they learned the suspect had brandished a firearm, leading to a physical altercation and the theft of the victim's key fob.
Just after 10:45 p.m., police found and arrested the suspect, 36-year-old Eddie Fountaine Hunter Jr. on Elmhurst Lane, just under a mile and a half away from where the robbery took place.
Hunter Jr. was taken into custody and charged with robbery, use of a firearm and firearm possession by a felon.
Police say this arrest was made in record time, arresting the suspect within 50 minutes of the initial call.
