HAMPTON, Va. — A Portsmouth man is in custody after fleeing from state police and crashing into a Hampton home early Thursday, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
According to VSP, around 1 a.m. a trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet sedan going north on I-664 near the 1-mile marker in Chesapeake.
The driver didn't stop and instead sped away at a high rate of speed which is when the trooper began pursuing the vehicle.
The Chevrolet exited I-664 and the pursuit ended when the driver crashed into the front porch of a home in the 2500 block of Kecoughton Road in Hampton.
The driver tried to flee on foot but was appended by police. Investigators allege cocaine was found inside the vehicle.
