Portsmouth double shooting suspect arrested in Henrico following police standoff

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man wanted for a double shooting in Portsmouth is now in custody in Henrico County.

Police arrested 22-year-old Risaiah Wyatt after a six-hour standoff Sunday outside of Richmond. Officers tried to serve him a warrant, but Wyatt immediately shut the door and refused to follow commands.

Wyatt is accused of shooting a man and woman in Portsmouth on June 12. It happened at the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Frederick Boulevard.

He is facing charges of two counts of malicious wounding, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
