Police: Woman shoots man during fight at home in Hampton

Officers said Crystal Normandeau shot a man whom she knows after they started arguing at a home in Phoebus.

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton police said a woman is facing a couple of charges after she got into a fight with a man and shot him in Phoebus.

Officers said Crystal Normandeau, 35, and Maurice Lee know each other. The two of them were at a home in the 300 block of West Chamberlin Avenue Tuesday when the shooting happened.

When police got to the home around 3:50 a.m., they found Lee, who'd been hit by gunfire. Medics took him to the hospital to be treated. Lee still was in the hospital late Tuesday afternoon.

Officers described the fight as a "domestic altercation."

Normandeau is facing the following charges:

  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding

Lee was in the Hampton City Jail Tuesday afternoon.
