PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Authorities have identified the man who's life was claimed in a deadly shooting in Portsmouth that police are now investigating as a homicide.
We're told 44-year-old Mamtonio Bunch died as a result of gunshot wounds he sustained in an overnight shooting.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim just after midnight in the 2500 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, not far from Deep Creek Boulevard and the Truxtun Historic District.
Medics took the Bunch to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen, but he died there.
There is no word on any suspects at this time or a motive in this case.
Police are planning to do a Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma Walk Tuesday afternoon and will be walking the streets of Truxton in the wake of the homicide.
