NORFOLK, Va. — The Old Dominion University Police Department is seeking information on a man who appeared to be carrying a firearm on campus Tuesday night.
The police responded to reports that a man was seen in the University Webb Center possessing a handgun at about 10:15 p.m., according to an alert ODU sent to the campus community.
Officers responded to the location, secured the area and searched for the individual, but did not find him. However, they deemed there was no continuing threat to the community.
Based on the information available, ODU Police confirmed the man was on campus and in possession of a firearm, the alert stated. Investigators are asking for help identifying him, and patrols have increased inside the University Webb Center and in the greater campus community.
