Norfolk jury convicts man in 2022 murder

The jury convicted 33-year-old Lamont S. Smallwood for the 2022 murder of 26-year-old Paul L. Robinson.

NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk jury convicted 33-year-old Lamont S. Smallwood for the 2022 murder of 26-year-old Paul L. Robinson.

According to the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Smallwood shot Robinson on May 29, 2022, in a parking lot on B Avenue. 

"After a few moments, Mr. Smallwood pulled out a gun from his waistband and pointed it at Mr. Robinson, proceeding to confiscate Mr. Robinson's gun, knock him to the ground, beat him, and order him to strip down to his underwear. Mr. Smallwood then shot Mr. Robinson in his neck and shoulder before driving off, leaving him to bleed to death," the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said.

Smallwood was convicted of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. The sentencing is set for July 21.
