NORFOLK, Va. — Chesapeake Police arrested a Norfolk teacher this week. William Deacon IV faces multiple charges involving crimes against children.
The 35-year-old is a business information and technology teacher at Maury High School, according to a Norfolk Public Schools spokesperson.
He was arrested on Monday after officers searched his Kendale Circle home in Chesapeake. The high school teacher faces eight felony charges dating from January to March of this year.
Those charges include:
- Five felony counts of proposing a sex act with a person under the age of 15.
- Three felony counts of attempted indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15.
Chesapeake Police also executed a search warrant on Deacon’s cell phone, where they say “files containing images depicting child pornography were immediately located.”
The department’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit partnered with the NCIS and the FBI to make the arrest.
Deacon is being held by the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office with no bond.
We reached out to the FBI’s Norfolk office to find out if any of the minors involved are Deacon’s students. They declined to comment and referred us to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Deacon's next court date is scheduled for November 29.
