NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk man has been arrested in connection to a carjacking attempt on Tuesday, police said.

Emmanuel J. Similien, 20, has been charged with carjacking and malicious wounding.

Around 11:40 a.m., Norfolk police were called to the 200 block of East Little Creek Road for the report of a carjacking.

Similien entered a running vehicle without permission and attempted to drive away with the occupant of the vehicle in the passenger seat, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

The passenger and the suspect engaged in a fight while the suspect was driving, which resulted in the suspect crashing into a wall, police said.

Both the suspect and the passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries after the altercation.

Similien is currently being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
