VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A federal judge sentenced a man and woman accused of multiple armed robberies in the Hampton Roads area over a six-week span in 2021, the Virginia Beach Police Department announced Tuesday.
Brandon Chavis, 36, and Melissa Beasley, 43, — both from Norfolk — were arrested in mid-November 2021 in connection to several robberies that had occurred between October 1 and November 15, 2021, authorities said.
Of the 20 robbery cases involving the two, VBPD said two happened in Virginia Beach. The first happened at a Subway on October 25, 2021. The other robbery was reported at a 7-Eleven on October 27, 2021.
Chavis was sentenced to nearly 35 years behind bars, while Beasley was sentenced to approximately 28 years.
