NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police are investigating a homicide on Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to the 800 block of 35th Street for a gunshot detection system alert in that area around 8:51 p.m., according to a Newport News Police Department press release.
At the scene, police found a man with at least gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The man was later identified as 22-year-old Kalesio Woodson, of Hampton.
