NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Newport News on Wednesday night.
The Newport News Police Department said around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the 7300 block of River Road, not far from the James River Bridge. They arrived to find an adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said detectives are canvassing the area and that forensics are gathering evidence on-scene. There's no word at this time on what may have led to the shooting or if any suspects have been identified.
