New court documents detail Norfolk police officer’s sex crime charges

Norfolk officers arrested co-worker Herman Martin earlier this month for sex crime charges.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk police officer Herman Martin was in court on Thursday for sex charge crimes.

44-year-old Norfolk police officer Herman Martin faces charges of sodomy and intimidation of a victim.

The complaint details Martin was working as a security officer at the Motel 6 on North Military Highway in Norfolk, and on Oct. 4th he solicited a sex worker.

The documents go on to say Martin was in full uniform when he forced the woman to perform sexual acts on him, and told her if she resisted, he would take her to jail.

After Martin left the motel the woman called her employer, reported the incident and was able to identify officer Martin to the Norfolk Police Department.

Documents show the Commonwealth of Virginia put out a warrant for Martin, and he was arrested on Oct. 10.

They detail Martin’s bail set and secured for $5,000 on that same day.

We haven’t heard word back from the Norfolk Police Department about the case and folks around the Motel 6 didn’t want to go on camera to talk about the incident.

Martin will be back in court at the Norfolk General District Court on Dec. 3.
