KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — The Kill Devil Hills Police Department is looking for a missing man they claim is evading arrest on charges of indecent exposure and secret peeping.
Jackie Ray Price, 48, is facing one count of felony indecent exposure, seven counts of misdemeanor secret peeping and seven counts of felony secret peeping to create a photographic image, according to police.
He went missing on May 8, 2023, around the time when he was being investigated in connection to two incidents from the month before. A suicide note was found at his residence but no body, police said.
"The subsequent investigation has led investigators to believe Mr. Price is alive and attempting to evade arrest on multiple criminal charges," the police department wrote in a news release.
The investigation began on April 6, 2023, when officers responded to a reported indecent exposure at a McDonald's restaurant. Several days later, on April 13, officers responded to a reported "peeping Tom" at the Cavalier Motel.
Four of the victims were women — ages 33, 43, 51 and 63 — and one was a 14-year-old. According to the police department, the suspect left before law enforcement arrived in both situations.
During the investigation, police identified Price as a potential suspect and recovered seven videos of women inside their hotel rooms at the Cavalier from his seized cell phone.
"As the investigation closed in on Mr. Price, he absconded. Investigators have reasons to believe the suicide note was merely a smokescreen," the police department wrote.
The police department said they have obtained arrest warrants on the charges Price faces and will be served once he is located. They also said investigators believe Price left the area but could still be in contact with people in Kill Devil Hills.
Anyone with information about where Price is located is asked to call 252-449-5337 or 252-473-3444 if it's after business hours. People can also submit tips to the Dare County Crime Line.
