Man suffers serious injuries in Hampton shooting

Police say an 18-year-old man was shot on West Queen Street. His injuries are life-threatening.

HAMPTON, Va. — Police are working to learn more about a shooting in Hampton that landed one man in the hospital on Monday.

A Hampton police spokesperson said officers were sent to the 1400 block of West Queen Street shortly before 5 p.m. Monday after learning someone may have been shot there.

When officers got there, they found an 18-year-old man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he has stabilized.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police say the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven when two suspects entered the vehicle. One of the suspects then shot the victim. Both suspects then got out and fled on foot.

The suspects have not been identified at this time, and the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
