HAMPTON, Va. — A man is recovering after he was shot while sleeping inside a home in Hampton late Sunday night, authorities said.
In a news release on Monday, the Hampton Police Division (HPD) said someone approached the residence on Tabatha Circle off of Michaels Woods Drive at around 11:15 p.m. and fired multiple rounds toward the home, striking the victim once.
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to a hospital but is expected to survive.
Gunfire also struck a nearby vehicle that was empty, police said.
There's no word on any arrests at this time. HPD said it's unclear what led up to the shooting or a possible motive.
HPD's Major Crimes Unit is handling the investigation.
