PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A 28-year-old man was found shot in Portsmouth Friday night while police were responding to an unrelated call in the area, authorities said.
Officers responding to a nearby incident heard gunfire at around 11 p.m., prompting them to run over to the 200 block of Dale Drive, Portsmouth police said.
Police provided aid at the scene while awaiting medics. Despite their efforts, the victim, Daniel Rodgers, died at the scene.
Homicide detectives are searching for the person or persons responsible for Rodgers' death. No suspect information has been released at this time.
