Man shot several times during apparent gunfight in Hampton, according to police

A fight apparently broke out between two groups of individuals, which led to people in both groups pulling out guns and shooting at the other group.

HAMPTON, Va. — A man was shot early Sunday morning during an apparent gunfight at a party in Hampton, and police are trying to figure out who's responsible.

According to a Hampton Police Division spokesperson, their officers responded to a report of shots fired on Powhatan Parkway near Jamestown Ave. at around 1:15 a.m. While they were at that location investigating, police received another call from a local hospital reporting that a 19-year-old Hampton man had arrived at their facility with several gunshot wounds. He's expected to recover.

The police investigation determined that there was some sort of party going on at the location on Powhatan Parkway. A fight apparently broke out between two groups of individuals, which led to people in both groups pulling out guns and shooting at the other group.

Only the one victim was reportedly shot, but several unoccupied vehicles were struck by gunfire.

The police spokesperson said they had no suspect information to share, and are asking for the public's help to identify the people involved while their investigation continues.
