The spokesperson said this was apparently an isolated incident and the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.

HAMPTON, Va. — Police in Hampton are trying to figure out who's responsible and what led up to a shooting outside a nightclub very early Saturday morning.

According to a spokesperson for Hampton Police Division, their officers were dispatched to the location of a reported shooting on G Street just off of W. Pembroke Ave. shortly after midnight. Once officers were on that scene, they received a call reporting that there was a gunshot victim located on Briarfield Road., near the intersection with Potomac Ave., almost a mile away from the reported shooting location.

The victim, who the spokesperson said was a 26-year-old Hampton man, was transported to a local hospital and was treated for what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.

The initial investigation by police indicated that the victim was at the Our World Club on G Street when a possible fight took place. The victim was struck by gunfire outside the business and was then transported by personal vehicle to the 1500 block of Briarfield Road, where he then called for medical assistance.

The spokesperson said this was apparently an isolated incident and the victim is not cooperating with the investigation. The motive and circumstances are still under investigation.

This is the 73rd shooting incident in Hampton this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
