Man shot in Newport News dies days later in hospital

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot in the 500 block of Randolph Road in Newport News Friday night.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A person who was shot November 25 died Monday in the hospital, three days after he was hurt.

Police said 42-year-old Tommy Jason Strayhorn of the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue passed away in the afternoon.

Someone shot Strayhorn in the 500 block of Randolph Road Friday night.

Newport News police officers and medics found him shortly after 11:10 p.m.

Officers described one of the suspects as a black male with light skin who was in his late 20s to early 30s. He stood approximately 6' tall and weighed 180 pounds. He last was seen wearing a gray skull cap.

The second suspect was a black male with dark skin, in his late 20s to early 30s. He stood approximately 5’7” tall, weighed 160 pounds, and had either dreadlocks or braids. He last was seen wearing a red or black hat.

Both left the area in a silver minivan.
